have got a bucket of grubby wax now....some a bit mouldy, some with old stores but mouldy pollen and dead brood and wax moth etc

can i just chuck it all in and melt down and strain all together?

Yes. I wrap everything in muslin, then lift the muslin with all the slum gum out of the molten wax and plonk it on a separate tray before pouring the clean wax in yogurt pots or whatever you use as moulds.

How do these people manage to extract beeswax outdoors without being covered in curious honeybees and wasps? I opened the door to the shed once while heating wax and within a few seconds I had to rapidly evacuate myself and my pan of wax to the house!

I think the last batch I put through the steam wax melter up the shed has equal weights of wasps and wax mixed.
