I am new to the forum. Just opened my hive to find my queen is a drone layer. The colony is strong. Does anyone know if it's possible to get a mated queen (possibly last years) so early in the season? Please....

Sorry to say Rippa, very unlikely.

"My Hive"? Have you but the one? If not then unite with newspaper to a Queenright one.

IO do have but one - just started last spring and was so pleased to see them buzzing hapily last week, then so disappointed when I opened it up and saw drone only laying (I had an expert with me - that wasn't my judgement).

Sorry to hear that Rippa, with just the one hive I would say its time to order a nuc.

Do you have a beekeeper friend who lives close to you with a frame of brood they could spare ?

Are the drone eggs being layed by a drone laying queen, or laying workers ?
If the latter, requeening could be a problem .
