Low stores warning

Thank you for that, we are supposed to be getting a cold snap in the next several days so that should put pay to a few pounds of stores.

Don't worry Millet.....if you get left with frames full of honey or syrup...you can always use them for making up nucs this year...very useful...and when you add new frames for the queen to lay in....you will be able to take out old comb too. I did that the first winter I had bees but the extra combs of stores were very useful.
 
If they go on like that, you 'll need to remove honey frames in spring or queen will have no room :)

Easiest thing to do if you have a concern over the queen not having room to lay is to go brood +1/2 or double brood in the SPRING... do not remove their stores as the little girlies saved it up especially as it is the best food for new brood, probably also has pollen stored and they will utilise them frames when emptied for brood rearing... Removing the frames is a common mistake made by keepers of bees!

Then come the first flush and rush of a nectar flow you will have a strong colony to pull out foundation ... and get a decent crop of honey to super off!
