Finman you are right out of order with your sarcastic comments regarding a persons level of beekeeping knowledge. Why do you always tell us in the UK how to carry out beekeeping? Why not tell the beekeepers in Finland how to carry out beekeeping?

Post #13 said enough. Little has changed over thirty years wrt honey yield. In the UK, I would think that crops have increased markedly. Most, simply by moving to OSR, or the expansion of OSR to closer proximity of more hives. Maybe that is not so good for the bees but statistics are important to some.

Yields will likely take a dip, what with all the new beeks, over the next couple of seasons (all other things being equal), but does that really matter? I get sufficient honey for me (and usually a good deal more) from just a single colony in most years. But I am only a hobby keeper, not making a living at it.

Regards, RAB
