i have a newly mated queen in a mating nuc and a Q- 5 frame nuc. unfortunately i have no fondant at present. if i put her in an introduction cage and tape the entrance for a day, then remove the tape, with this be sufficient to allow her pheremones to pass through the colony and (hopefully) result in a successful introduction?

many thanks.

Maybe you can to do the trick of wacking in a bit of marshmallow at the end for them to eat through instead of fondant, as have heard that being done a few times.

I would go with PHs advice . 3 days and i would expect her to be accepted without problem .

I usually use butler cages with just paper over and have not lost one yet on introduction.
