I bought 100*100W bulbs off eBay a few months ago - works out at 30p each. I had hoped they would last us for a few years, but friends and relatives seem to like them too and the stock is dwindling quicker than expected :toetap05:

I know they (incandescent light bulbs) have been used for years, but I would not recommend them to anyone on safety grounds.

Regards, RAB

Ever seen the choke on a fluorescent lamp spontaneously combust ? I have and far more often than damage cause by incandescent lamps .
All the ingredients are in place! tars/resins etc. to start a serious blaze . As a plant engineer , I've witness this too often and also seen the results when this has happened without being seen ( A sizable inferno occuring before being picked up by smoke/heat detectors ).
