What's so good about Welsh honey now then ? Don't tell me some fairy story about those delicate welsh fingers caressing the bees nonsense !!

apart from the yield is down and demand must have pushed the prices up......

You mean you've never tasted Welsh honey? I think it's the singing - all those male voice choirs gets the little ladies brewing the finest honey.

The yield is low because they discard the nectar that isn't up to their high standards. And the weather's crap too.

.. and I take it 'flower' is used to represent garden produce as opposed to hedgerow or orchard\crop honey??

A couple of unanswered questions:

Bulk - means in buckets, minimum about 25/30 lbs.
Flower - means not heather or any other specialist honey, such as thyme etc. Also sometimes known as blossom honey. It includes OSR.

I would take these figures with a pinch of salt if based on what beekeepers have declared. How many declared what they would like to charge rather than what they are actually able to charge? Beekeepers are second only to fishermen in the deception (and self-deception) game. I would also question the sample size - how else would Western region have bulk price significantly higher than wholesale price?
Nevertheless it does make interesting reading.

It all depends on the demand in the area. I sell mine in my area for £4lb I could sell a little higher but I am happy with what I am getting.
