Honey gate - Non drip?

Does such a thing now exist as after taking well over an hour to jar 50 jars that infernal drip is annoying to say the least?

I spent years worrying about this till @mbc taught me how to use even the cheapest honey gate.
As long as I put pressure on the gate while opening and pouring I don’t get a single drip.
You could invest in a jarring machine. Abelo have a great one.

Thornes and National Bee Supplies sell a snap shut 'clean cut' valve (called the 'perfection' valve with NBS) which is meant to be drip free, I have one but have yet to try it. I think you need a metal bottling tank as it needs a robust foundation to work effectively.

The amount of honey I am dealing with just does not justify a machine. I mean over £2k? I actually have a manual machine in the garage but it can only do pounds and half and also needs a lot of work to be fitted to a new tank.

Keep back pressure on the tap, keep the jar at least 15 cm below tap and any hair drip will ping back up. Never have a problem!

Thornes do a filling / weighing machine for £600. Tempted myself as jarring is so mundane but would like some reviews. Smart Weighing and Filling Machine

The gate I am using not only drips but seems to leak now and again from the hinge. Total pain tbh.

The old one I used had the same problem. Adjusted the pivot bolt, put a new O ring in and kept pressure on the gate ( pushing towards tank) and it was good. In the end the tank was too big for my needs. Got a new smaller one from thrones ( I think Simon also sells same model) with 200,400 and 600 filters and it works a treat

Never gave the "O" ring a thought and hmmm yes it is a good few years old. Now, where is the micrometer?

If the thread is long enough put an o ring on inside and outside. The tap is straight and the bucket is curved!

The gate is sealed to the bucket that's not the issue. The leakage is from between the gate and its body and the hinge side.

I always remove one jar and immediately replace with another. That avoids drips getting on the bottom of the jars. Often the drip collector is not the next jar to be filled, just a dedicated ‘drip catcher’. I invariably fill approximately and adjust afterwards with a teaspoon ‘dipper/drizzle’.

I have a really good quality stainless steel one that Dani gave me which I fitted to my settling tank ... hardly ever get drips if the hinge bolt is adjusted to just the right tightness and as everyone says gentle pressure on the lid of the valve. I tend to jar from a jug these days as I find it easier to fill the jug from the tank and then jar up with the jar sitting on the scales ... more accurate than from the honey gate on the tank.

I have a Carl Fritz tank with stainless steel gate valve, cuts out immediately and no drips.

I bought one like this from ebay. I fixed it into a beer fermenting bin - being careful with the hole cutting. It works well.

When I shut the tap wife whips the full jar away to cap and replaces with an empty one, works for us. Using a Thornes T0024 many years old currently £8 very few drips.

I simply have a knife in a cup handy to whip the drip away before placing another jar.

I find the easiest way to stop the drip is just to lick it.
