The farmer where I keep bees had his entire oilseed rape fail over the Winter so is shortly going to plant peas instead. Does anyone know if they give a reasonable honey?

Thanks for the advice. Now it's got to be Plan B - as soon as I work out what Plan B is!!!

Peas are self pollinating with the stigma and anthers within a closed corolla preventing access by insects. However they can be cross pollinated by hand if you cut open the corolla to gain access to the stigma and anthers. This is a major reason why Gregor Mendel chose peas as the experimental species when trying to work out various aspects of genetics (leading to Mendels first and second laws of inheritance).

Ogden Nash -
"I eat my peas with honey,
I've done it all my life;
It makes the peas taste funny,
But it keeps them on the knife."

Just thought I'd throw that thought into the peas/honey bee discussion!
