Morning ,honey flow time again,
I haven't seen a thread on this so I thought I would start one.
Mine .
Farm apiary osr in full flow really strong even at the low temps.. I'm just about to put my third super on.
Home apiary all the trees this time of year medium flow 1 honey super on.
Cheers mark.

Now it has warned up the OSR that is in full flower is being worked... supers on for this.

I expect most blossom to be out this week so will be mixed in with the OSR. Hawthorn may be out and of next week so think that will also be mixed in.....

Weve got lots of blossoms out , nearly going over. OSR in flower and some hawthorn. Lots of different coloured pollens going in just need to learn which are which at times of the year now.

Wonderful, and its set to warm up further. Loads of bees, loads of forage=loads of honey. What is the flow after the OSR where you are ?

The farm will be the cider orchards apple and pear then clover , bramble , borage , then HB ivy etc..
Home will be bramble, thistles, wild flowers , clover and HB .
Fingers crossed .

I live next to a Quince orchard, all the trees are in full bloom at the moment and the bees are loving it, third super filling up on both hives.

On a double brood hive on a good flow could bring 20 pounds of nectar in a day, approximately one super. Depending on humidity the ripening process could take 10-20 days. I hope you have LOTS of supers with drawn comb. I can taste the honey even now.

Supers yes but not drawn comb which will slow things down, I plan to extract near the apiary so I can put the supers back on asap.
I'll lose a week for drawing out comb?
The cider apples will be blooming in a weeks time so the osr will be mixed.
Can you pm me your address as I would like to send you some honey m for your kind help.
Thanks...

If the osr is flowering bees will concentrate on that so yes whilst it may be a mix don’t think it won’t set fast. Just fyi

The cherry orchard is now in full blossom.
The noise of Bees in the trees is magic

Thanks.

Hi Curly,
Is it about now that you tend to get the biggest flow lasting up to the apple blossom and then tapering?

Hi Curly,

Apple and pear blossom won't be at its peak for two weeks yet by which time the osr will be going over so I've got a 4 week period from now for blossom and osr the time factor could be more as one of the orchards has a late variety yet to show signs of opening in total about 200 acres of orchards ..
This is a new apiary to me this season as such I'm learning dates of flows etc..

Honey is rippen when it is capped. You cannot measure moisture from every place, when nectar is coming in every day.

Yeah... I know guys who want to sell honey early and then they must dry it up.

I'm in no hurry to sell my honey but I'm on my last jars for home consumption .
And don't want to buy any :paparazzi:
