Returning home from Essex to Norfolk yesterday afternoon, we were keen to check on our two hives and Bees.
Apart from the grass having grown 2 feet in four days, we noticed that one of the hives had the bees busily buzzing about and looking fine, whilst we noticed that in the other, there were lots of bees hanging around the entrance. They didn't seem to be moving much (but were alive) and some bees were still flying in and out.
I check them later in the evening and they were still there, not doing much at all and the other hive was still normal.
This morning all seemed fine again and both hives were operating as normal.
Any ideas why one should be doing this and not the other? The hives are about 4 feet apart.
