2 Hives have been stolen in south Hampshire just north of Portsmouth in the last week.

Both are new Cedar nationals, one on double brood the other on brood and a half.

If anyone is offered these hives for sale or has any info please contact:
Jon Mitchell(Admin has telephone contact details).

It would be nice to know how visible these hives where to 3rd parties and whether their location was logged on bee base and if the beekeeper was a member of a local assosciation or not.

Its an unusual time of year to loose bee and hives it would almost suggest that the perpitraitor was after the hardware rather than the bees.

Where they stolen from his garden and if so does house insurance cover people for the hardware loss?

Jon is a member of Petersfield & DBKA in Hampshire.
The only other information I have is that they were stolen from his apiary(I assume it's an out apiary but will contact him for more details).

We have also had two hives stolen from Bedhampton (just north of Portsmouth) ,
Commercial hives with glass quilts.

Members are asked to be vigilant and suspicious of hives/colonies offered for sale

Thats only 4 miles from were the Nationals went from..
