Just joined, kept bees 20+ years ago before moving to my current house in the High Peak. Bees had occupied an old hive in my garden several years ago and survived despite no intervention - maybe they are varroa tolerant!
Decided last year when they swarmed to take beekeeping properly again, currently have 2 smallish colonies which have hopefully wintered ok in new poly hives (I lost the prime swarm to a local beekeeper).
Treated in Feb with sublimed oxalic acid (Gas-Vap) and recently gave the smaller & lighter colony some fondant.
Looking forward to my first full beekeeping season for many many years. Planning to make increase this year rather than produce much honey.

:welcome:

I know several beeks over 1,000 feet on the edges of the Peak District.

I’m sure it will all come flooding back - the frustration and the satisfaction!
I hope it all goes well and welcome to the forum.

Thanks for the welcomes! There's a fair bit I've been catching up on. Prior to last late summer, the last time I was an active beekeeper varroa was something to keep an eye out for!!
