Lost a swarm and got them back

My problem is I never can seem to find the Queen.

I put paper on top of the hive.
Put super on top and then put a Q/E on top of the super.
then put another empty super on top.
Thinking if I can't find the queen on the frames.
When I shake them in I could smoke them down and find the Queen.
Could not find the queen and they would not move down.
So put the frames in super and put the lid on for now.
left the Q/E in.

As i took a lot of time looking for the queen a lot of bees have gone back to where the swarm was hived.
So put an empty brood box there.
They don't seem to be happy.
Flying around the box, looking for there queen i guess.

What do you think I should do next.

How long did you wait ?
Depending on the weather you should get some bee's fanning at the entrance of the new hive after a while.
What was the distance between the old/new hive ?

distance is about 5 feet.
problem is I now have 2 queens in 1 hive.
Between a Q/E.

The bees in the empty box seem to be flying in and out.
Just got around 100 bees flying around the garden not knowing what to do.
I did leave 1 empty frame in the empty box that they have started drawning wax on.
Nice size drawn comb for 1 days work.

What I have now is.
Brood Box with Queen.
Super on top
Paper.
Super on top.
Q/E.
Super with swarm and Queen.

Thinking I should leave them today and tomorrow try smoking them down and I should find the Queen above the Q/E.
I am just no good at finding unmarked Queens.

Cannot you have 2 colonies- they have good weather ahead to strengthen. Then if a queen is poor- decide to join. If both good- job done. :cheers2:
Your garden can take an extra colony, if I remember right. - same amount of bees travelling, isn't it (for a while)

Don't have enought supers for another hive.
Just making my last spare one up.

Got up early and had another look.
Smoked a lot of bees down thought the Q/E.
Went thought all the frames and could not find the queen.
Not many bees on the frames.
So started to go thought them again and saw her on top of the Q/E.:hurray:

Removed the Q/E and the paper.
There was load of big holes in the paper.
Did not think they could get thought it in a day.

I am always amazed at how fast they can remove a sheet of newspaper.
