Was amazed to find a bee getting her fill of plum juice! Has anyone else seen anything like it?

On holiday a number of years ago I saw a carpet of bees all over half a water melon. Over to you JBM do you try to discourage them going anywhere near your melons?

Yes - it was stage-managed - yellow plums providing a much better contrast than Vics. :)

Meidel - what breed of honey bee have you. Colours look so different to the AMM which we have here in Ireland.

Hi meidel and co,
I haven't personally, but apparently the bees are partial to raspberry juice as well. Do we have wild raspberries in the UK?

Yes. They also collect honeydew? And drink from guttation fluid? nothing unusual, but seasonal and 'needs must' situations.

Bees are very practical. Survival is the name of the game. As simple as that.
