I’ve left a unused nuc out as a bait hive and noticed some (5-10) bees sitting in the entrance earlier today, not scouting or measuring just kind of blocking the entrance and not moving much.
i went out this evening to check if a swarm had followed, but found these bees now inside sitting in a group on the old drawn frame.
Any ideas what’s going on?

Could be as @Newbeeneil says above or could also be that a swarm had arrived and then absconded without you noticing. I’ve had that happen twice this year....the swarm arrived and clustered on the box and then changed their mind and flew off. About a dozen bees were left behind and behaved as you describe, sitting at the entrance during the day and going inside at night
