Thank you for your advice and viewpoints peeps.

I have already started spreading the aforementioned hives around other out apiaries....but it's just so damned annoying.

The irony, of course, being that I'm also a small-scale farmer!

I would try to find and contact the new land owner asap,
Just because the farmer THINKS you can not keep the bees there he doesn't KNOW you can not.
There is no reason why the new person is not totally ameneable to the idea of bees being kept on his new land, he may love the idea!?!
