Does it matter where you place the frames in the brood box? Should they be placed towards the front or back ?

Thanks :willy_nilly:

If you mean the 5 frames of a nuc being promoted to a full box, then centrally is the usual way.

The majority (I believe) of beekeepers have their frames at right angles to the entrance - your question implies that you will have yours parallel to the entrance. That's fine too, but different.

That way has most heat escape. The bees allways select one side in the box.

If you have 5 frame occupied, it is better to put extra wall into the box. It makes the build up quicker.

If you have 2 swarms, unite them and you get a better hive. 2-box swarm is the best begin. It is 8 lbs bees.

OK, fair enough. Not quite so important at this time of year, but a good point anyway.

I have so much experience that it is important. UK has biggest wintering problem that beekeepers cannot get colonies big enough.

Too small starts and too small wintering colonies, mesh floor, too much ventilation, no insulation...you have much to learn.
