This should answer your question http://www.dave-cushman.net/bee/bsframedimensions.html .
Short answer : Yes. DN4 are self spacing.
started panicking that I would go out to the hive in April and find all the frames glued to the floor with comb. Phew.
Ahhhhh, so the DN4's are Hoffman 14x12's!
No - DN4's are Deep National frames with Hoffman side bars.
14x12's are Jumbo National frames with Hoffman side bars
National deeps are 14x81/2
Naional Jumbo are 14x12
Mmmm, thanks as ever for your help but im vexed. My '14x12' frames as i thought they were came from thornes marked DN4. I'm home now and have measured them and looked at others in my pre made-up spare jumbo box for next year. They reach the bottom of the box and the side bar is 12 inches. They worked well in my first hive since July and never noticed an issue whatsoever. No comb on the bottom (how could there be as they fit). I Could it be they are simply incorrectly labelled? I know what deeps are as the association uses them and my nuc came with them had to 'work' them out which i did with 4 of them. Bizarre.

And I thought Jumbo was a little elephant... did wonder why they had big ears?
