Hi Guys

I have been doing a lot of reading regarding the feeding of bees, but I can find little on under what circumstances they should be fed.

http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Beekeeping/Recipes_for_the_Bees

I imagine bees may be fed something different in autumn, in winter and in spring. Is feeding necessary in Summer?

Feeding Nucs, swarms etc?!?

I have also heard horror story's regarding rapid feeders for liquid foodstuffs. Any recomendations on feeding??

Cheers
Pete

Well now.

In reality its pretty straight forward.

A swarm and or a nuc are fed as they are vulnerable (nuc) and have very little in the way of stores bar what is in their tums (swarm).

Colonies can be fed and should be fed in times of dearth as it is the strong ones that die of starvation fastest.

2:1 syrup is what is fed for winter stores.
1:1 is fed for Spring feeding and for swarms.

It's nothing to worry about and a good book will help your concerns.
