Hello,

I am looking to get my first extractor this year - and I am unsure of what is good. I know I want radial and I know I want electric - we have our first child on the way in august, so my bee time will be more limited. So a good electric one will speed up harvesting time.

I have seen these three:
http://www.abelo.co.uk/shop/electric-12-frame-radial-extractor/
http://www.parkbeekeeping.com/products/detail/18-frame-radial-honey-extractor-new
http://www.bees-online.co.uk/view.asp?ID=925

I have also seen some cheap ones on ebay and amazon.

Does anyone have any experience with any of these?

Also - what do you use? Electric, manual, honey press, etc?

Be interesting to understand more from peoples experience.

Thanks in advance.

Started with a three frame manual which I still use occasionally as it takes brood frames. Good for a couple of hives. Now have a nine frame radial electric. Good for several hives, saves time and effort. Horses for courses really!

Hi I bought one from abelo and I think it's excellent all made by lyson in Poland

You need to check out the specs. Something is misleading. The sizes of the Park 9 and 18 are identical.

If it is a Lega, as I expect it is, I have a couple of electric 9 framers. Mine both take the extra deep frames with the tangential screens included. The earlier electrification only drives one way, so is a little slower in tangential mode, but it makes no difference in radial mode. Good, reliable machines with available spares.

With only 6 colonies a manual would be good enough, IMO

Bluebell Hill may be closer.

Anecdotal evidence and perusal of specs for cheap ones leads me away from cheap chinese products.

Hope it's some use.:)

I have a 12 frame abelo and it has been excellent! really pleased with it and customer service from them is also first class. They also deliver it to your door!

I do like Abelo's products although I don't have one of their extractors I can guarantee it won't be rubbish unlike some of the extractors on ebay.
How things have changed, I couldn't afford a pair of shoes when my daughter was born.

The best extractors from Abelo are their premium line extractors, far far better quality than their cheaper ones, and way more expensive.

maybe thats why they are called premium then lol

Thanks for the replies guys - checked out the older thread too :)

Had a nice result the other day and picked up a Thornes 2nd had A1 condition still with its protective plastic covering nine frame radial for an easy days work I was also fed and watered. Only down side it's manual but it's such an improvement it won't be a problem and I can work on the electric bit in time.
