Many thanks Polyhive, one is a full colony - I attempted a split recently but this coincided with the frosts sadly but it has continued to thrive and, although I could find no eggs last weekend I can hear what I assume is a virgin queen piping - I am anticipating "bee business" at any time!!!
The 2nd colony was weak at the end of winter but is now covering all frames and seems to be doing well so I assume this counts as a "full" colony????
