Not really beekeeping but the Telegraph has a load og electron micrographs of insects, including this one of a honeybee

The contrast is not very good but "this one" in the original post is a different colour and a click there takes you to the link

It is a good picture but it's not what I would call a honey bee. Mouth parts all wrong and eyes too far apart, also antenna come out of the head at the wrong point. I would say it is some sort of fly.
 
That photo of the honey bee does not look like the ones I have taken what do you think?
