I think the drones find the queen and not the other way around.

Sorry to confuse you. I was wondering about when the drones are in their own colony or when they enter a neighbouring colony. How do the workers recognise the drones, is it just by sight?

Drones are welcome in any colony except of course Queen right colonies in Autumn!!
