Do drones produce their own pheromone? If so where from? What is its function? Does it change over time?
Testosterone jokes not needed!!
 
The drones hang about in congregation areas! the virgins find them ?

Sorry to confuse you. I was wondering about when the drones are in their own colony or when they enter a neighbouring colony. How do the workers recognise the drones, is it just by sight?

Drones are welcome in any colony bee-smillie except of course Queen right colonies in Autumn!!
