Do drones produce their own pheromone? If so where from? What is its function? Does it change over time?

Sorry to confuse you. I was wondering about when the drones are in their own colony or when they enter a neighbouring colony. How do the workers recognise the drones, is it just by sight?

Drones are welcome in any colony bee-smillie except of course Queen right colonies in Autumn!!
