Today, I opened up a frame nuc that I set up with QC about 4 weeks ago. The new Q has started laying, but the capped brood seems to be mostly drones with just a few worker cappings.
Is it likely that the Q is a drone layer and the worker cappings are non viable larvae that have been on the frame since the nuc was made up or can a newly laying queen start off laying drones before getting it right?
I guess if I leave the nuc another week, I'll know if she is a drone-layer.
