Noticed today on one of my hives quite a few holes on the mouse guard were blocked with Drones.

I dont remember having that many still about this time last year, is it the bees or the mild weather, anyone else seen them ?

Perhaps the workers had a final push on eviction duties.

A drone laying queen/Workers ?
Maybe a late supercedure.

:ack2: dont say that dude, bad karma.

Im sure its just a few stragglers.

Apart from that, not many colonies would cluster with retained drones. I know I was still picking runner beans into November last year but I think they were killed off by the middle of the month by some cold weather. Your local weather details would be available (by some route) if you were very interested, I am sure. Climate change, if nothing else, will mess up the bees' routines for the year. I certainly (as certain as One can be) had no drones left at this time last year.

Regards, RAB
