I placed a National deep frame as frame number six in my 14x12 brood box. Today I cut away the capped drone comb from the bottom and brought it home. My motivation is varoa control and a treat for my hens.

I have pulled out sixty drone grubs and haven't seen one mite. This surprises me.

Any thoughts or comments from you experts out there?

Your hives goes well. however the hive will have perhaps 300 - 500 mites in autumn.

If your drones have tens of mites, the hive should be handled in August after yield.

- yes, the hive looks normal.

Thank you for your response, Finman:)

One day I will be confident and relaxed (it will happen, won't it???) but until then I will continue to worry...
