Can anyone tell me the DISADVANTAGES of beekeeping, I am trying to formulate an answer for a bee exam.

Any input gratefully received

You become a beekeeping bore. People must dread asking me how the bees are now. "ooh I'm so glad you asked..... bla bla bla ......and then I spotted the queen....bla bla bla..... and the swarm was 30ft up a tree...... bla bla bla."

welcome bout bees eerm... cant think of any apart from the more you learn the more you seem to want to know

never enough time then all the time as its winter.

1. No holidays April - July

2. My wife says she's a bee widow (I think she quite likes this though)

1. Summer breaks.
2. Initial financial outlay.
3. worry!
4. Sometimes confusion with different techniques / ideas.
5. The unpredictable British climate
6. Some incompatible farming practices.
7. Reduced forage with the loss of habitats, herbicides.
8. Constant threat from disease - varroa etc
9. Lack of funding into research - CCD etc.

the bee widows, just like golf ones i suppose, allergic reactions to propolis/venum/bad backs/sticky kitchen floors/fuel to get to out apiaries/bee poo in the car when you get bees in the car/propolis in places. need any more?

Constantly being outwitted by colonies of insects, and the uncertainly of never being sure that you have followed the best course of action.
