So the demaree colony you can see in the photo was transferred into a standard national single brood hive on the 25th of April, colony had the brood split with frames of foundation to get them to expand quicker to start with.
Demarree queen was left in the bottom box on her frame and the rest foundation, I didn't roll this demaree and just been leaving it take its course moving super frames around ie honey frames as they are drawn moving them to the outside of the supers. Adding supers above the bottom brood box to be drawn quicker.
Frame set up dn5 and sn5 12 over 12.
Hives firsts from thornes and nailed and glued with natural wood treatment.
Extracted 1 super so far from this colony of spring honey.

Funny you say that it was scraps, the day before I ripped some paper up to start the smoker, never used it, came to unite and sugar big hole in the middle of the few sheets I had, so I over lapped bits of newspaper like a dam jigsaw.
