Can anyone identify the grey-white bodies in the picture? I'm asking for a friend.... My guess was chalk brood but maybe they were too big to go through the open mesh floor? Thanks!

Looks that way,,,, how big is the mesh?

You can calculate the US mesh size by counting the number of holes in 1 linear inch*.

Four little holes is US 4 ( 0.2650 inches 6.730 millimeters)

* I lerned that for the BBKA basic many moons ago,,, and was most disappointed when the examiners did not ask me the question... more worried about how my grip on the smoker between me shaking knees was!!!

Thanks both! Couldn't think of anything else it might be.

Honestly not my bees so not sure what the mesh size is.

He says there were no 'mummies' in the hive when he did the first inspection of the season, so I guess he must have hygienic bees.

I was thinking of doing the BBKA Basic but am now reconsidering. :)

They are most definitely chalk brood mummies
