Ive just finished bottling the honey which i extracted yesterday and it seems quite dark, the stuff i took a month ago from the same hives is a light golden colour.
It also seems thicker with a stronger taste.
Why would this be?

Obviously i thought about different forage but most of the latest batch was on the hives when i took the last lot, the first lot was for some of my family that were getting impatient
Surely whats been added in the last few weeks wouldnt give such a drastic colour change, would it?

Yes i googled the question first by the way.

You have answered it yourself.

Different forage.

For instance I have seen Hawthorn honey inside a frame of OSR.

Not unusual.

Hi Steve,

on Hayling we have quite a difference in colour from various forage through the year, even between different sides of the island. On the Eastern side near the Marshes it tends to be very dark towards the end of the summer whilst on the top of the island quite light.

Thanks again for the bees they are doing fantastically well, did yours relocate ok?

John
