Hi All

This year I fancy having a go at Cut comb honey, does any one have a guide on how to do it?

Do you take the capping off or just cut it out and leave them on?

Cheers

Mark.

leave 'em on for sure (even if you're going for chunk honey).

Best Wishes,
roland

Yes just cut them out and leave the cappings on.

If you only fancy a few frames of cut comb then in your super put in two or three unwired frames along with the wired frames but remember to write on the top of the frame unwired.

Dont want to scare you on this but I understand that with most wax recycled and with the chemicals sprayed on the bees, tested new wax foundation is showing traces of the chemicals and in time if it increases may mean that this method is deemed unsafe.

It is possible to get the bees to drawer out the frame from a starter strip of foundation

Use thin unwired foundation or best of all (for the quality of finshed product) a thin starter strip.

Above all avoid the OSR season as most customers will want runny honey.
