What tree is this from

Some sort of cypress (Chamaecyparis) but which on I don't know = possibly lawsonia?

I am happy to be proved wrong, but I don't think it is a lawson cypress. Perhaps you could post a photo of the complete tree, which would be of great help in assisting identification.

If that is the foliage as well, I don't think it's Lawsonii.

Don't think so. My father in law had a couple growing on his property, they reach way up into the sky and the cones are a different size and shape.

Yep defiantly a cypress tree judging by the photos on google, The reason I asked was a 60 foot tree at the end of my road was being cut down and the contractors said I could take what wood I like and knowing a man with a chainsaw planker, if it was any good form making beehives i would collect it.
