I am always scared of combining the artificial swarms in case they then get swarmy again. My head says combine for more honey (and so as not to be over run with an exponetially increasing number of colonies) but I still feel scared.

Please advise. I want to be robust and combine the langstroth jumbo colonies with others on langstroth normal brood, so that they become super honey producers.

Thanks,

Karin

Sounds good to me.

Go for it, unless you want 30+ hives. :D

If you are refering to uniting colonies with old queens, the risk of swarming later in the season is high.

If uniting with a young queen the risks are much reduced.

A lot of colonies are simply re-queened to reduce the risk of swarming and a few extra bees just puts them ahead of the game - as long as there is forage for collection.
