Colony uniting screen?

There have been a number of theads in here regarding difficulties in uniting colonies.
I've seen a "colony uniting screen" for sale - it's a bee-proof screen with a very small section of queen excluder.
Would a bee proof screen with an upper entrance between colonies for a while (eg several weeks) improve acceptance eg combined colony scent, suppress laying workers, etc?
I'm sure someone must have tried this!

Not to my knowledge but you would think there would be something like a travelling screen with a sliding door that you could pull open after 12 hours!

That kind of thing - only need one entrance to allow the top colony in and out, maybe a bigger mesh area.
