Hi everyone
Making an attempt on the 'daft questions' title...
We have bought a perspex crown board, which comes with only one bee escape hole, whereas the standard wooden crown board has 2. When using a contact feeder, which covers this hole, does that make a problem with ventilation? should we swap back to the wooden one when feeding? (we normally cover the holes with a square of mesh.)
Thanks in advance

What do the bees do with these squares of mesh? Propolise them?

Are you on OMFs?

What do bees arrange in the roofspaces, trees and other cavities they use as homes?

The only 'daft' thing is buying a perspex crownboard, IMO, (although I still have a glass quilt from a WBC around somewhere), but each to their own. If you are worried you could drill some holes in your nice plastic coverboard.

Regards, RAB

I believe the 2 holes are for 2 porter escapes for when they propolise up the first one when it's being used as a clearer board. They don't need top ventilation, especially in winter.
