Time to recombine the artificial swarms if I am to avoid again doubling the number of colonies.
I need advice on choosing good queens by just looking at them please.
I have superbee queens due this week, laying queens in mininucs - from more fancy parentage, and mongrel queens that the bees made themselves. Some of them have to go.
I would just get rid of the old queen, but sadly have lost a few of the old girls, so now need to choose between the mongrels the colonies reared themselves. Well the Italian has to go... good looking iridescent amber, and super gentle, but very swarmy and rather lazy. But how do I choose between the others?
I don't want to wait to test their temperament, etc. as off to work festival soon, so want them sorted, so they are less work for bee buddy who will mind them.
Advice please.
