I’m making some Easter egg candles, mould is from Abelo. I keep getting holes developing when the wax sets.

Any suggestions as to why. I’ve included a photo.

Thanks, Emily

It’s too do with cooling too quickly then? If I insulate the mould, will that help?

Never tried the egg candles but have worked with many other silicone moulds, they all need topping up as the wax shrinks when it cools. I let them fully cool then trim the wick level with the top of the mould and then fill in the shrinkage and let it cool a bit till its solid but still a bit pliable. Then I open the mould and take the candle out and put it on the counter to harden further, doing it that way you get a nice flat bottom to your candle and it doesnt need any further timming to make it stand firm.
