Hello Everyone,

Looking for some advice...

I have a hive that is attempting to make a new queen through emergency cells (I'm not sure what happened to my last queen). I am also feeding this hive at the moment. All well in the hive aside from lack of queen.

Question 1 - am I able to treat the hive with Apiguard whilst a new unmated queen arrives? Or should I wait?
Question 2 - do you think my new queen will have time to mate??

Thanks,

Dani

I would not. Apiguard affects queens temporarily.

Your priority is a mated queen or your hive is dead. Lots of other varroa treatments,, some of which can be used in cooler conditions.

I am seeing no drones in my colonies now (earlier than usual), so I think you may have run out of time to get a new mated queen.
You certainly arent going to improve her chances by sending her out on a mating flight stinking of thymol.
