Can i oil a cedar hive

I've had my hives for five years. I oiled them when I first assembled them (probably wasn't necessary) and that's all they've ever had and all they'll ever get. Oiling is only aesthetic as while the outside may be lovely and oiled, the inside, which gets condensation too, is never treated and yet the hive doesn't fall apart from the inside out.
 
I use raw linseed oil from new and again five years later. If I make hive parts from redwood timber then they get two coats of garden shades
