can you keep and harvest honey from bumble bees bee-smillie

or are they protected etc

asking these questions has a friend has 2 nests in his garden and is a little unsure what to do and i must admit to not knowing much about the bumble bee.

They only produce a small amount of honey just for themselves so it cant be harvested.

They are protected.

If he can just leave them alone they will be gone my the autumn.

I am in the process of removing two from a couple of school compost bins. Unfortunately they want rid because of the children and its a bit of awkward job but they should be mostly gone by the end of the weekend. :)
