Only two things i can think that may limit its success.
not everyone has a phone with a good enough camera resolution, mine is rubbish.

the other thing is i have see varroa on the sides, underneath and legs of bees, so how accurate can it be, as it looks to only recognise on the back of a bee?
 
Research has shown that varroa are seen on the tops of bees only when moving from one bee to another or to a larva. The rest of the time mites are parasitic. When not in a sealed brood cell they are hidden between the tergites of a bee feeding on its fat body. There’s no phone camera anywhere that’s going to pick that up.
