Hi,

I have a hive and this evening the bees where hanging around outside about 40 of them not doing very much. They have about 8 frames of brood ( I took a frame of brood of them) and an empty super. Has anyone any ideas what this is or could they be just bored because of the cold weather.

Regards

They usually hang around outside if it is warm or if it is crowded

I may be that if the super is just foundation, it doesn't seem like home yet... you could spray frames with 2:1 syrup to encourage them to like it.

Probably having a crap and a hive orientation flight , all my hives did the same between 5 and 6 tonight

Probably just the Night Shift

:iagree: with RAB, my bees did this on one of the hives last year, the next thing they swarmed best to deal with this ASAP.

Gillybee.
