I'm new to beekeping and understand that bees and horses don't get along. Just wondered if anyone can tell me how far away from horses is it safe to site an out apiary?

Well mine live so close together that if I'm not careful placing the electric fence, he can and has nudged a lid off.........

I'd heard that too and was wary, but they seem to generally ignore each other.

Mine are next to my hives. It might help that the ponies are shorter than the fence but we`ve had no problems :)

Hey you could land a chinook helicopter on that alighting board.:blush5:

I love Shetlands, we had a couple up until a year ago, they can be more fiesty than Bees at times, but great fun.

I was told the same thing, just after I'd been told by a friend I could keep my hives on his farm. There were horses next to where I put my hives but it didn't seem to make any difference to the bees.
