Basic national plans?

I am no carpenter so has anyone got plans that dont have dovetails etc, just common nails, screws, and glue?

it is possible to use butt joints but i would suggest you use an exterier glue such as exterier no nails glue.

i have made hives from recovered 3/4" floor boards but you need to glue and clamp boards together to get the depth.

Easiest is 18mm and 12mm exterior ply and you can make a hive using just a circlular saw and cutting guide....maybe minus a few fingers though

Fragile planet do ply flat packs, if you dont want to start from a flat sheet

have a look at my videos for the nuc boxes and make the sides bigger, just use big screws

You could make a Dartington - nothing other than butt joints in them (other than the frames, of course).

They do have issues - err, like not so good for migratory beekeeping and that the floor is integral with the brood box, but I like them. They can be made in different sizes (depth and length).

Personally, if no decent joints, go with flat pack - lots of companies do them. Boxes without decent jointing arrangements will likely not last so long before box-to-box fit is compromised. Ply may not be too bad in this respect.
