What are you planning to use for your varroa treatment? August is fast approaching.

1. Apiguard
2. Api Life Var (new but a bit more expensive)
3. Thymol in Autumn feed (as Hivemaker's recipe). Could this be additional to 1
or 2 above?

Apiguard (because I have a load) plus a precautionary Fumidil B treatment for Nosema

Will follow with a Xmas present of 3.0% oxalic in 1:1 sugar solution @ 5ml per seem of bees

Thymol on oasis like iv'e used for the past eight years, thymol in syrup........thats it...no oxalic acid.

HM, how do you apply the oasis, and what strength?

Peter

Thanks HM,that saved me going to search for it :cheers2:

I do the same but put the mixture on a folded tissue.

If anyone wants to buy Thymol crystals in a box then Wynne Jones is your man at Beesupplies[dot]co.uk over in Welsh Wales.

I think he was once a BBKA president ?

The thymol treatments all say that honey filled supers should be off - is this just those that are to be spun or does it include those being left to supplement the winter feed?

Just the ones that are going to be harvested.

If not then your honey will taste like listerine mouthwash(Its Thymol they use in it).

Anyone tried the home-made apiguard recipe...the one with veg shortening, sugar and thymol? Or know the strength of the essential oils in the Apivar?
