I watched this last night and it's not surprising we have lost so many bumble bee species.. After the war the government gave grants out to remove hedges, intensive crop farming also down to the government after the war.
Why can't we have the green party to be in government.. Fair enough they might not run the country very well, but we would have maybe more wildflower areas.

Another thing don't we need to be concentrating our efforts on organic seed production, and producing seed that is semi resistant to fungicides etc.

If we had more wild areas on the headlands of fields perhaps there might be more preditors to eat the insects that can decimate some crops.
Vent over!!

My advice for what it is worth, if you have even a small space in your garden then perhaps consider planting a plum tree or an apple tree.
If you have a large space to spare then consider a Bramley, a Discovery and a James Greive ( they are Triploids needing 3 species for cross pollination) otherwise you can get a single apple tree that has all 3 grafted onto a single root stock.
The bees, honeybee, and others go mad for the blossom.
If not, plant clematis Montana and get a box of wild flower mix and make a strip along your lawn.
As we say here.....Mony a Mickle Maks a Muckle. ( without any more interference from High Heid uns that know nothing).
Translation.........Every little helps ( without any interference from government that know nothing)

more than 20, less than 100.
Truly inspiring. The local school has large areas of grass, may be worth having a word.
