I have a chance through the local association to get my hands on some Ambrosia at £12.50 per gallon. Anyone out there got any views on its effectiveness over ordinary sugar for autumn feeding? I understand from the course I did that it is a better balanced sugar, containing sucrose, glucose and fructose. Opinions would be welcomed.

No direct experience but I believe one of it's advantages is that it for some reason does not excite robbing if spilt.

I believe its an inverted sugar which is generally better for bees but a pain to make and guarantee safe?

Anyway I've just picked mine up from our Assc today:.)

used it last year on a swarm that moved in in September, swarm expanded onto 5/6 frames in a matter of 3 weeks, drawing comb at a rate I hadnt seen on my nuce which was struggling to expand over the brood box.

It doesnt go off which is another great bonus.

sounds good Milkermel, especially the not going off bit. I wondered why there was no use by date on the package
