Anybody got any idea on where to source acarine needles for a disease workshop ( highfield bees used to stock them however their website is down)
 
Anybody got any idea on where to source acarine needles for a disease workshop ( highfield bees used to stock them however their website is down)
I couldn't find anywhere selling them. In the end I made them from a pair of insect mounting pins and epoxy putty - very easy to do.
 
Double needles to pin a bee by the chest to a cork, to remove the head, take off the collar and check the spiracles for acarine infestation
 
have you a picture?

No the pins on those are too strong and thick
 
These come in different gap widths and needle thickness
