Two years ago I moved into a new house.
One of the first things I noticed was the large amount of Bees that visited our new garden.
After some exploration on-line, I decided that I would like to try and be a Bee Friendly person.

• Step One was to contact my local Bee Keeping Society (Portsmouth).
• Step Two was to get onto an 'Introduction to Bee keeping course'
• Step Three - this is where I am currently at -
To obtain the necessary equipment – After some on-line hunting

I ordered some basic Bee keeping equipment,
which should start arriving early next week
I still have 2 Sundays left on my Bee keeping course and then I should be ready for step four –
Obtaining a Bee Hive, and some Bees.
I have decided to start with a Langstroth Hive, which Admin is currently looking after for me.

Hello Steve1958 and welcome to the forum. Sounds like you are doing things in the right order.

You will get your bees in time to settle them down for winter.........but that's good, it means you get to handle them and get confident with them before the start getting to be a really big colony.

Good luck with it all.

Very nice. How high is the stand from the ground to the start of the horizontal ?

Congatulations on your hive Steve. If you`re like me you`ll spend the next few weeks just staring at them coming and going.

Thanks. There you go another excuse to go to the bees :)

I did pop out quickly first think to check they were still there.

You never know I may have been sold a new breed of Homing Bees bee-smillie

Thanks steve1958.
